I know this blog is few days behind, but I wanted to share my view of this seminar that I attended recently. I have followed both behemous figures and prominent photographers and artists in our industry but its always different to meet them in a person and feel their enthusiasm. Although it was a long day, not just listening, but making notes, absorbing the wisdom and advice it was incredibly uplifting and inspiring. It is very interesting to see what kind of polar opposites these masters are, how they got to be where they are and how fundamentally different their business infrastructures function.
I can’t say I liked one better than the other, I will just pull out what appeals to me and my business model. Having this “double view” diversity of information ie “Two Views” is what makes this seminar so successful.
The fact that Joe Buissink has a background in psychology I found very fascinating as I could relate to it on a scientific base. Not only to understand your Brides needs and visions as a client, but also an art lover and being able to relate that you are not just a wedding photographer, but an artist with creativity and talent. Capturing the Essence of the moment is hard work and being able to focus 100% straight for 7hrs isn’t always easy. I also enjoyed his talk on how a physical reinforcement trains the brain. In an instance, when you are looking for the perfect light to shoot a portrait, you snap your finger or tap your leg once you find the perfect spot. Like Pavlovian dogs, you will unconsciously train yourself to snap your fingers to alert your “inner ego” that you have found great light. How ingenious. Why not use psychosomatic responses… they are built in us! Anyways, I am ranting. Overall I really enjoyed the seminar and would strongly recomend it to any wedding photographer or infact any photographer to attend and listen to the masters at work. Here is some pics from the event.
